Our Story
Our family—Brent, myself (Jalena), and our four vibrant children—embarked on an agrarian adventure after transplanting roots from bustling Arizona to an 8½-acre canvas.
It all began when Brent, a decorated combat veteran with 23 years in law enforcement, and I—still bemused by our serendipitous meeting as jailhouse colleagues—decided to hang our hats after careers fueled by service and protection. We initially carved a family path along the conventional lines but were soon guided by higher callings toward the joys and challenges of fostering 11 children over 4 1/2 years, ultimately culminating in the adoptions that would expand our family tree in the most unexpected ways. With Brayden, Mikayla, Charleigh, and Bryant, time has painted our lives with broad, vibrant strokes, the years zipping past like swift swallows at sunset.
Our Vision
Freedom Forest Farm isn’t just a name; it’s a testament to our ethos of liberty: from the soil to the soul. It’s an homage to Brent’s valorous service and our collective pursuit of a life untethered from the inhibitions of modern constraints. With hands cupping seeds and hearts full of dreams, we’re cultivating an oasis where natural farming methods meet educational enrichment—a food forest teeming with nutrient-rich produce and a destination for agricultural tourism.
Bounties of the Land
Our homestead is a living mosaic—not only home to our family, but also to a cherished ensemble of animals ranging from clucking chickens and free-ranging fowl to sociable KuneKune pigs and nourishing Nubian goats. We aspire to introduce a dairy cow to our fold, envisioning days where milking lessons might intersperse with the laughter of visiting families.
The arched expanse of our 100 ft long tunnel shelters an array of vegetables, while nearby, raised beds abound with medicinal herbs. Their fragrances dance on the air, a subtle invitation to explore deeper into nature’s apothecary. We nurture our land with the intent to provide not just for our own table, but to extend a hand of sustenance to our extended community.
An Agritourism Dream
Yet, Freedom Forest Farm isn’t just about cultivation—it’s about community. We’re at the cusp of unveiling meandering trails where visitors can pluck sun-kissed fruits straight from the branches, invoking the primal connection that humanity shares with the earth.
An abandoned dwelling on our grounds whispers of potential, poised for transformation into a crucible of learning—where the arts of canning, bread crafting, and garden tending will be passed on to eager hands. This homesteading hub will also sprout an array of goods and essentials, fostering a seed-to-supply ethos.
