THIS KID DOESN’T WANT TOYS – HE WANTS BABY DUCKS!
Just look at that smile on my son’s face! He adores our new family members… 6 little ducklings.
Peanut, Quacker & Jack came first last Wednesday…
Then we added Donald, Daisy and Daffy on Friday (to give us a mixed flock).
And yep, they are currently living in my bathtub for a few weeks until they are fully feathered and can be moved outside.
Peanut was injured and a x-ray showed a fractured leg, so he/she (we wont know their sexes for a few more weeks) has a splint on, but will heal very quickly.
These ducklings are incredibly fun to play and cuddle with, and the kids spend practically all their free time with them… they say the ducklings are better than any toy they have. This mama couldn’t be happier!!
Soon enough, these little cuties will grow into beauties that will roam our backyard, eating weeds and bugs, and swimming in their kiddie pool, with the kids of course!
We can’t wait for eggs to eat (duck eggs are larger and have more protein than chicken eggs). And although it’s too early for us to determine their sexes yet, I’m sure we’re bound to have at least one male in this flock, which means fertilized eggs and new ducklings come breeding time! Things just keep getting more and more exciting in our backyard!
